“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I tell you?”

Fear of the Lord
The gift of Fear fills us with a sovereign respect for God, and makes us dread nothing so much as to offend Him by sin. It is a fear that arises, not from the thought of hell, but from sentiments of reverence and filial submission to our heavenly Father. It is the fear that is the beginning of wisdom, detaching us from worldly pleasures that could in any way separate us from God. "They that fear the Lord will prepare their hearts, and in His sight will sanctify their souls."

St. John Paul the Great said, love and truth need to go together. “Do not accept anything as the truth if it lacks love,” he said. “And do not accept anything as love which lacks truth! One without the other becomes a destructive lie.”

Fr. Fawaz Post:
I have noticed that a lot of people start forgetting how to go and what to do when in the church.. The church isn’t a social, cultural or lingual gathering. The church isn’t “Father or abouna so and so church”
The Church IS the house of God and that’s why I wrote some basic information on how to go to church.
1- Before leaving the house check if you look modest (males and females). Is what you are wearing going to cause people to sin?
If you are going to a wedding, baptism, 1st communion mass please cover yourself inside the church. Respecting God is more important than the way we look.
2- When you get to church put your phone away or on silent mode and then with the Holy Water make the Sign of the Cross at the door.
3- Before sitting, Kneel down by going down on your right knee and make the sign of the Cross.
4- You May stand, kneel, or sit down and say a personal prayer.
5- Your eyes, heart, mind and soul should be fixed on what’s happening on the Holy Altar.
6- If you are not in the state of Mortal Sin you can receive communion otherwise please go to confession.
7- You May leave after the final blessing, kneel down on your right knee make the sign of the cross
8- Make sure to practice what you prayed inside the church.

Come, O blessed Spirit of Holy Fear, penetrate my inmost heart, that I may set you, my Lord and God, before my face forever, help me to shun all things that can offend You, and make me worthy to appear before the pure eyes of Your Divine Majesty in heaven, where You live and reign in the unity of the ever Blessed Trinity, God world without end. Amen.
