1. Because God has first spoken to us

* Prayer is us responding to God
* Prayer is the act of asking God to do what he has already promised to do

2. Because God is with us
* Matthew 6:9, Colossians 3:1-4

3. Because we are utterly dependent on God
* James 1:17, Colossians 1:17, Philippians 4:6-7, Ephesians 1:3
* We are approaching God the Father with trepidation - we can RUN toward him!
