"I was allocated this piece - as opposed to choosing it - and I was quite surprised to find birdsong as my sound, which didn't initially seem to me to be very sleep related. But as I first started processing the sound, I began to think more about a daytime nap, perhaps in a park, with the sounds of nature in the background. I find sleeping in the day can be quite dreamy/hallucinogenic and I ended up reflecting that in the music, with the random sounds of nature occasionally seeming structured and then slipping away into a tuneful chaos."
