Think about the concept of a resume for a moment. It’s a document we put together in order to showcase our accomplishments, experience, and skills in the hopes of proving ourselves to a potential employer. Without realizing it, many of us live our lives as though we are constantly working on our resumes. Our lives can become dominated by the pursuit of proving ourselves and looking for ways to showcase our awesomeness to the people around us. Jesus, in teaching about the kingdom of heaven, shows us a different approach to life. A way that involves ditching the resume.
