Why are they in search for King? They show up in Jerusalem and then search for a King. They bring gifts, gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Why those gifts? Some of those gifts are kind of an obvious gift to give to a king. Some of them are very strange to give to a king. Also in their conversation with Herod the idea of a Christ, a messiah comes up. Where did they get this idea? Why did they worship him?

There's so much more to this mystery that we have to that we have to peel back the layers but because we know of the biblical background, Matthew's use of the term Magi, and there's only one place in the Old Testament where it’s used. The book of Daniel.

Now we can look at that book to find out more data about who these Magi were, and why did they come and why did they come and search for King.
