Glioblastoma (GBM) continues to be a challenging disease to treat, often with rapid progression and limited overall survival. Surgical resection is central to treatment paradigms in combination with radiation therapy and chemotherapy for treatment of newly diagnosed glioblastoma. Authors discuss the evidence in newly available literature since the original guideline was published in 2008, and the recent updates to the recommendations regarding cytoreductive surgery.
