Coach Matt Neil was a long time assistant and then Head Coach at Hope College. While there, he was responsible for the development of several all conference and All American post players. He was a tireless recruiter, student of the game, motivator and was focused on winning games and developing people.
As a player, Coach Neil was a three time all league performer and MIAA MVP his senior year. As a head coach, he received the NABC Regional Coach of the Year in 2012 as well as the Glenn Robinson National Coach of the Year that same year.
Coach Neil remains passionate about the game by running Matt Neil Training (mattneiltraining.com), a training platform for coaching consulting and development, leadership development, and individual training where he works with athletes from the elementary school to the NBA.
After finishing his coaching career at the collegiate level he began a successful career in Life Insurance for the Hop Agency of Farm Bureau Insurance. He and his wife Kim have four children who live all over the U.S. and four grandchildren. The Neil's reside in Holland, MI and are active in serving the community.
