The story of Jesus with the woman at the well is one of the most famous gospel stories.  It is well known because of the shocking nature of the circumstance.  Jesus shouldn’t be in Samaria, he shouldn’t be speaking to a Samaritan woman and yet, all of this is happening.  And because of it, many other Samaritans will end up believing in Jesus because of the woman’s witness.
