On Thursday, July 9, 2015, little DeOrr Kunz left Idaho Falls with his family for a camping and fishing trip more than 120 miles away at the remote Timber Creek campground, but by the next afternoon he had vanished without a trace. At first, it was believed the boy might have been abducted, or even attacked by a wild animal. But as the search remained fruitless, investigators began to wonder if DeOrr had ever been up on the mountain at all.
