LFA 90 on Friday night, UFC fight Night including a Main Event on Saturday, new matchup announcements and more local MMA news in your Colorado MMA News, Weekend Preview…

On Friday night, Kelsey Arneson of Trials MMA will make her pro debut when she throws down at LFA 90 against Tabatha Ricci (2-0) in a straw weight contest. Watch the fights live on UFC Fight Pass, starting at 7:00 pm MST.

Then on Saturday night, two Elevation Fight team members will compete at the UFC Apex center in Las Vegas for the UFC Fight Night Overeem vs Sakai card.

In a highly anticipated female bout between likely future contenders, the #12 ranked Montana De La Rosa (11-5) of Elevation Fight Team will face the #8 ranked Viviane Araujo in a flyweight contest. This will be the first fight for De La Rosa with Elevation in her corner.

Then in the main event, the #7 ranked UFC heavyweight, Alistair Overeem (46-18) will face the #9 ranked heavyweight, Agusto Sakai (15-1-1) in a matchup of top ten fighters. Overeem has won 3 of his last 4 and he has made it clear that he is intent on making one more title run to cap off his legendary career.

Watch both these Colorado fighters throw down on ESPN +, Saturday night with fights starting at 4:00 pm MST.

And in new matchup announcements...

After a tough outing but good learning experience this past Tuesday on the Dana White Contender Series, Nate “The Savage” Smith (6-1) of Elevation Fight Team will be invited back in November according to Dana White, for his second shot at the big show! Stay tuned for his opponent to be announced.

Edwin Chavez (2-0) of Pariah MMA is back on the schedule after his previous fight fell through. He will now face Keilen Fantroy at LFA 91 on September 11th. Watch the fights live on UFC Fight Pass!

Additionally, Anel Dudo of AFA boxing will fight for his shot at a 6th amateur championship title on September 19th when he fights under the Sparta Promotion banner in their third event of the Covid era! This will be Dudo’s 25th fight of his amateur career. Stay tuned for his opponent to be announced.

And in local mma News...

Sparta continues to make historic moves within the mixed martial arts world. Following their last event in which they introduced the first sanctioned bare knuckle mma bout, on their next event they will also host the first US sanctioned lethwei bout. And then just this week they further announced that they will be introducing Muay Thai with 4 oz mma gloves instead of the normal 10 oz gloves. Needless to say, big things are happening with Sparta and the local mma scene.

And let but most certainly not least... The LFA featherweight champion Justin Gonzales (11-0) of Trials MMA has signed announced that he has signed with Bellator! A big move for the undefeated Trials MMA and Top Notch product. Keep your eyes on this channel for more news on his debut and opponent.
