Results from the weekend’s fight action including LFA 88, Bellator 244, and UFC Fight Night Vegas, as well as new fight announcements. Welcome to your Colorado MMA News, Weekend WrapUp.

LFA 88 took place on Friday night with a couple of Colorado fighters throwing down on the card. Unfortunately, Pariah MMA’s Edwin Chavez had his fight scratched last minute due to his opponent dropping out. But his teammate, Chaz Alex still had the opportunity to make his pro debut on the prelims portion of the card. Alex came out with a successful professional debut, winning impressively with a 2nd round rear naked choke submission. Congratulations to the now 1-0 pro, Chaz Alex.

Also on the card, Colorado’s Ben Lugo of Top Notch MMA lost a hard fought majority decision to Natan Levy in a close fight that could have gone either way. Lugo’s record moves to 5-4 as a pro with the loss. Watch for Lugo to bounce back stronger his next time out.

Bellator 244 also went down on Friday night and Andrew Kapel of Elevation Fight Team competed against one of the top middleweights in the promotion, John Salter. Salter showed off a suffocating grappling game and was able to find an arm triangle submission in the third round to hand Kapel his 7th loss of his pro career, but first within the Bellator promotion. A slight road block for Kapel who will undoubtedly be back to climbing his way up the Bellator contendership ladder soon.

Additionally on Friday night, Marty Paredes of Elevation Fight Team won the Fierce Fighting Championship’s amateur heavyweight title with a second round TKO win. With the impressive victory, Paredes improves to 4-1 as an amatuer in mma. Congratulations to the new Fierce Fighting Championship heavyweight Champ!

Then on Saturday, UFC Fight Night took place in Las Vegas and Elevation Fight Team sent two of their own to compete on the world stage. After a late bump to the main card for Austin Hubbard, both he and his teammate Shana Dobson had the opportunity to be featured in main card fights. Dobson seized the opportunity and cashed as the biggest underdog of the night, winning by second round TKO to end her three fight losing streak and pick up the 4th win of her pro career. Dobson looked slick both on the ground and the feet for as long as the fight lasted and was able to pick up the 2nd TKO win of her career. Congratulations to Shana “Danger” Dobson.

Austin “Thud” Hubbard had a bit of a tougher night, losing by first round rear naked choke submission to Joe Solecki. Solecki looked like the real deal with the win over a proven elite athlete and champion in Austin Hubbard, and Hubbard fell to 12-5 with the loss. Keep an ear out for what’s next from Austin Hubbard.

And in other local MMA News, Factory X has added even more professional fighters to their team as Vince “The Anomaly” Cachero (7-3) and Aryion “The Kid” Young (1-0) have joined the squad. And Young will have his first fight with Factory X at his back on September 11th for Oklahoma’s Rage in the Cage promotion. Watch out for these two rising professionals.
