C&SI brings together a series of reflections to share over the Christmas Season. Originally available for listening on Christmas Day and St Stephen's Day, we are sharing the individual reflections to allow listeners a bite size moment over the days of Christmas - to allow us to pause and reflect for a few moments and also as a reminder that Christmas is not just "the day" but a season of faith where we celebrate the wonder of the coming of Emmanuel into the messiness of human suffering and existence.

Noirin Lynch , Director of the FCJ Spirituality House, Teach Spiorodálta at Spanish Point  reminds us that we need to be aware that gratitude and service being at the centre of our Christmas celebrations. Noirin reflects on the contempory icon by Kelly Latimore "Dorothy Day and the Holy Family of the Street".

“What we would like to do is change the world--make it a little simpler for people to feed, clothe, and shelter themselves as God intended them to do. And, by fighting for better conditions, by crying out unceasingly for the rights of the workers, the poor, of the destitute--the rights of the worthy and the unworthy poor, in other words--we can, to a certain extent, change the world; we can work for the oasis, the little cell of joy and peace in a harried world. We can throw our pebble in the pond and be confident that its ever widening circle will reach around the world. We repeat, there is nothing we can do but love, and, dear God, please enlarge our hearts to love each other, to love our neighbor, to love our enemy as our friend.” ~Dorothy Day

Noirin reminds us that in the midst of the hustle and bustle that where we dismiss the image of God in anyone, it is to deny the Incarnation and Christmas.

"The path that lies before us is not for us to know, one step and then another is all we need to know........"
