My mother took me to church from the time I was a baby. The church we went to, I was lead to believe if I was a good person and joined the church and got baptized, I might be able to go to Heaven…but I wasn't really sure. I just knew my good works needed to outweigh my bad works.

When I was 16 years old, I got married and that marriage did not work. And I thought to myself since I got a divorce, there was no way I could go to Heaven. I was a bad girl and I would die and go to Hell. So, I didn't live a very good life from then on.

But God had a different idea and different plans and His plans are always best.

I met a wonderful man and he loved me and we got married. I wanted to be a good wife. I wanted to do things right. My husband wanted to go to church and a man at his work invited us to their church and we attended. My husband had already been saved and wanted to join the church. So, I joined the church and got baptized. I worked in Sunday School and I was a good person. But, I was still trying to work my way to Heaven.

One night a missionary from Japan came to church. He was talking about "His Jesus could do this and His Jesus could do that." I got very irritated with him and said, "He's my Jesus, too. Who do you think you are?"

But by the time he got through, he quoted John 3:16 and also gave me Ephesians 2:8:9.

I realized that it was only through Jesus that I could go to Heaven. It wasn't what I had one, it's what He had one. That God had given His Son and Jesus had died. All I need to do was be sorry for the sins I had committed and the bad things I had done and ask Him to forgive me and give me a home in Heaven. That night, I had my Jesus, too!

For anyone out there that wants this Jesus, He's waiting on you. He's there for anyone, no matter what you have done, waiting to receive you with open arms.
