In this episode of Creative Guts, co-hosts Laura Harper Lake and Sarah Wrightsman talk with Oscar Villacis, the Executive Creative Director of First Gen Multimedia! Oscar is the host of three First Gen Multimedia radio shows: First Gen American, Asking for a Friend, and Latinos en Vivo (a show hosted completely in Spanish — the only one in New Hampshire).

In this episode, you’ll hear the absurd and beautiful origin story behind First Gen Multimedia. We also discuss mental health issues new Americans face that we don’t talk about enough, why Oscar doesn’t identify as the founder of an organization, and how he uses oral tradition to share the stories of first generation Americans to not only spread awareness and build community, but also to inspire the next generation. In this interview we laugh, we cry (literally), and get incredibly inspired.
