Chaired by @al_hinds with @Philip_Gomes and @anthony_tan providing backup tweets, um, er, we mean vocals, the pod begins on a sombre note, paying homage to IAM Cycling rider Kristoff Goddaert, who was tragically killed while out training Tuesday – reminding us all of the inherent dangers we all face, sharply juxtaposed against the innate beauty of cycling.

Moving onwards and upwards, we canvass the trio of road races going on at the mo’, with the tours of Oman, Algarve and Andalucia being run concurrently, and wonder who’s trying to get what out of each.

Switching tracks, albeit for a brief moment, we explore the motives behind world MTB champion Nino Schurter’s decision to ride a few road races this season with Orica-GreenEDGE – was he buoyed by Zden?k Štybar’s recent success at the cyclo- cross worlds, or is this Bike Marketing 101 at its best?

Now, given the difficulties in identifying your favourite and no-so-favourite riders in the peloton, how would you like to see riders keep their numbers year-round?

Each WorldTour team pre-designates their 30-odd complement from the start of the season, and sticks with it? Well, it was an idea thrown around by BMC’s Peter Stetina this week – and we reckon it’s got some serious legs.
