Good morning Horners! Vikings vs Colts is upon us. Is this a redemption week coming off of a terrible loss to the Green Bay Packers at US Bank Stadium? Can the team right the ship and get back to winning? Is the combination of no offseason due to the virus, only having all the new faces and just 4 players on defense back playing in the same spots as last year [Harrison Smith, Anthony Harris, Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks], or is that Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman have done the best they could but over time it just wasn’t good enough? These are just some of the questions rolling through the minds of fans. Do you have more?

The team travels to Indianapolis to play the Colts in an almost empty stadium. There will be approximately 2,500 fans per reports, but in Lucas Oil Stadium that normally houses 67,000, will that make any sort of difference? In stadium Vikings fans were definitely missed last week. Will the Colts defensive line cause problems for Dru Samia [suspected starter in place of Pat Elflein]? Will Riley Reiff and Brian O’Neill deny sacks? Can Dalvin Cook improve on his 48 yard performance. Heck, can the Vikings win the time of possession? Sure, Zimmer seems to have Phillip Rivers’ number, but he was getting the ball out at a 2.27 second clip last week. Aaron Rodgers did slightly faster at 2.25 seconds and we all know what headaches that caused. Will Rivers gift the young Vikings secondary, now less Cameron Danztler, with an interception or two. The time for easing in first round draft pick Jeff Gladney and his meniscus is over. He, Mike Hughes and Holton Hill must meet the challenge or it will be a long afternoon.

One person that can change at least part of the picture is if Gary Kubiak fires up some productive play calling. Again, let’s get more than just 18 minutes of offense please! Kirk Cousins can spread the ball around and get more targets involved, and those guys can produce. Adam Thielen will be his favorite of course, but expect him to be double covered most of the season. Make them pay for that. Take it to the Colts secondary and come out with a win. 1-1 is a whole lot better than 0-2.
