Vikings vs Packers Week 1 - GMG Pregame Show - a podcast by SB Nation

 Good morning Horners! Vikings versus Packers, week 1, and this is your GMG pregame show where we look at the upcoming game. That team from Wisconsin [TTFW] comes down to play in U.S. Bank stadium, an empty stadium with pumped in fan noise. Will it make a difference? Probably not due to the fact that reports are saying it will be at a low 70 to 90 dB, but it isn't all about the noise, it is about how your Minnesota Vikings will fare against their hated division rival, the Green Bay Packers.

We start out by learning that Danielle Hunter was placed on IR. This makes the signing of Yannick Ngakoue all the more important. Hunter will be on IR for at least 3 weeks for a Courtney Cronin reported neck injury,, a “tweak” as Mike Zimmer called it. We all hope it’s just that. That means Ifeadi Odenigbo will get the start at left defensive end. He should be playing with a chip on his shoulder and attacking the replacement tackle for TTFW. It came out in the injury reports that Billy Turner is doubtful, and most likely out with a knee injury. The Vikings on the other hand, other than hand, are relatively healthy [with the exception of Hunter] going into the game.

Keys to the game will be how well the run defense holds up was Shamar Stephen and Jaleel Johnson. How the offense of line for the Vikings will do in their new configuration. Has Dakota Dozier actually increased his strength? Will Pat Elflein salvage his career and play well at right guard? Who will backup those two safeties? Harrison Smith and Anthony Harris are the only ones on the active 53, but we know they could bring someone like Nate Meadors up and suit him up for the game with the new rules. Will the Vikes generate pressure against Aaron Rodgers, and how will they do it? Will we see more blitz packages including Anthony Barr? Will the young cornerbacks Like Mike Hughes, Holton Hill, Jeff Gladney, and Cameron Dantzler make a mark against Rodgers? How do you think Kirk Cousins will distribute the ball amongst his receivers like Adam Thielen, Bisi Johnson, Justin Jefferson and Irv Smith Jr., and how all Gary Kubiak called the game? Will we see a bigger run/pass split, or are we looking at a 50/50 game? These are all questions we have to wait until Sunday to find out, but what do you think will happen?
