MILITARY BRAINS - a podcast by Liz Beaver
from 2020-11-22T22:00
On this episode, I talk to PhD candidate and 2020 Tillman scholar, Jayme Hentig about traumatic brain injury, the type of support veterans need after the military and finding resiliency through diversity.
Jayme was an airborne medic until his vehicle rolled over and he suffered a traumatic brain injury that left him 100% disabled. That didn't stop him - he went back to school and is now one of the tireless scientists across the globe, trying to both understand and treat TBI and other neurodegenerative diseases.
Jayme is currently a neuroscientist and biomedical researcher at Notre Dame who spends much of his time placing inappropriate items in his refrigerator and "insulting" zebrafish in a lab. (So if a zebrafish ever pisses you off, you know who you can call.)
