In Deuteronomy 6:4, 5 we read: Hear, O Israel: The LORD your God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. The Oneness found here is more that just one being; it has to do with a unity of thought, of purpose, of desire, an agreement, if you will, a total agreement of thought and action. The Lord invites us to come into agreement with Him, to speak the same thing He speaks, for His desires to become our desires. Jesus invites us into a union with Him. "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."
