As an East Dearborn native and Fordson High school graduate, Mariam’s Harvard story was unheard of during her time. This story is especially relevant today in light of the several [visibly] Muslim Dearborn Public Schools students who have made their way to Ivy Leagues. Mariam was truly a pioneer who forced open the floodgates for our community’s trajectory in educational excellence.
