DBL#25 Tony Sylvester (Fabric, Southern Records, The Dukes of Nothing, Turbonegro).
This was very interesting conversation for me, a great window into the history of London post-hardcore band FABRIC. From the origins in 1992, recording the 'Body of Water' album, never finding their place or sound & ending with 'Lightbringer' in 1995. After this band ended he focused on his various positions within Southern distribution (Dischord, Touch and Go, Kranky, Southern Lord records etc.) for the rest of the 90s until joining THE DUKES OF NOTHING (featuring IRON MONKEY/ORANGE GOBLIN members). With this group he toured and released the album ' War and Wine' on his Eccentric Man imprint in 2002.
Throughout the 2000s Tony was involved in the formation of the AURORA BOREALIS label with former FABRIC bandmate Andrew Hartwell. He also curated and coordinated the ambitious, decade long LATITUDES series of releases (CIRCLE, CHELSEA WOLFE, DANIEL HIGGS etc.) for the Southern label until his leaving in 2010. In 2011 he ended up becoming vocalist for the Norwegian 'deathpunk' group TURBONEGRO recording and touring throughout the 2010s. He currently focuses his time on men's fashion/lifestyle writing and his own AWMS clothing brand.
