In this episode I’m talking to Matthew Thorne, the director for our video The Only Boy Racer Left on the Island. You’ll be able to tell I find Matthew’s insights and philosophies very interesting, which is why I forget to actually talk about the music video in question until about 20 minutes in, but hopefully you’ll find something interesting in the rest of what we had to say to each other.

It was a pleasure to talk to him about creation and identity within the video, and his career. We talk about how an Australian artist (and artists in general) portray their national identity within their work, and how important geographical and ecological backgrounds can be brought to the forefront in their presentation. We touch on the separation of the art and the artist, country music, and the behind the scenes of the shooting of the Boy Racer music video.
