Сегодня мы говорим о том, как коррупция и контрабанда разрушили величайшую экономику, позволив 4000 солдат поставить на колени целый континент. История, которую никто из европейцев не воспринимает всерьез до сих пор расценивается Китаем как одна из самых горьких страниц.

Бушевавшие в середине 19 века совместные интервенции европейских стран и действовавшей под их шумок Японии до сих пор плотно прикрыты информационной завесой прессы, преподносившей геноцид как освобождение народа Китая от гнета Маньчжурской династии. 

Опиумных войн было три, но две последние, слившиеся в одну, рассматривают как полицейские операции по установлению торговых отношений между Китаем и всем остальным миром.  

Каждый интервент норовил оторвать свой кусок в этой дележке. Британцы - беспрепятственно торговать опиумом и перенаправить поток товаров из отстоявших независимость колоний Америки, США - вывезти из Китая как можно больше рабочих для строительства городов и железных дорог взамен "освобожденных" афро американцев. 

В Франция, Испания, Португалия тоже получили свои наделы в дележе Поднебесной. 

Россия закрепила разграничение восточных рубежей на Дальнем Востоке и, к чести её, предотвратила полное разграбление Пекина британскими офицерами и солдатами, вовсю примерявшихся к вывозу всего найденного в качестве трофеев.

И если последствия мародерства солдат до сих пор составляют жемчужины экспозиций европейских музеев, то о прямых и косвенных потерях более 100 миллионов жизней китайцев предпочитают не вспоминать и не говорить.

За несколько десятков лет экономика Китая скатилась со второго места в мире до места в третьем десятке. Это падение определило судьбу Китая на весь 20 век.

Today we are talking about how corruption and smuggling destroyed the greatest economy, allowing 4,000 soldiers to bring an entire continent to its knees. A story that none of the Europeans takes seriously is still regarded by China as one of the most bitter pages.

The joint interventions of European countries that raged in the middle of the 19th century and Japan, which acted under their guise, are still tightly covered by the information veil of the press, which presented the genocide as the liberation of the people of China from the oppression of the Manchurian dynasty.

There were three opium wars, but the last two, merged into one, are considered as police operations to establish trade relations between China and the rest of the world.

Each interventionist strove to tear off his piece in this division. The British - to freely trade in opium and redirect the flow of goods from the colonies of America that defended their independence, the USA - to take out as many workers as possible from China to build cities and railways to replace the "liberated" African Americans.

In France, Spain, Portugal also received their allotments in the division of the Middle Kingdom.

Russia secured the delimitation of the eastern borders in the Far East and, to its credit, prevented the complete looting of Beijing by British officers and soldiers, who were trying with might and main to export everything they found as trophies.

And if the consequences of the looting of soldiers still make up the pearls of the expositions of European museums, then the direct and indirect losses of more than 100 million lives of the Chinese prefer not to remember or talk about.

In a few decades, China's economy has slipped from second place in the world to a place in the third ten. This fall determined the fate of China for the entire 20th century.
