Hey all, it's Paul from Drums and Rums. Where the backbeats meet the spirits.

Episode #24.  Live podcast over Zoom my guest is Orlando, FL based drummer Mike Pinder.

Mike's day can go from doing a wedding gig to a bar gig to performing at a theme park show. He talks about how the importance how the music and drums play an important part with the dancers/performers in shows. Like when a dancer is expecting a certain part of music to cue them.  Also Mike gives us a run down of what a zen drum is,  which I've never seen before.
And we chat about his favorite rum drink and I introduce him to Code Rum Key Lime and switch over to it  for that favorite rum drink.

The opening track is Mike performing on  "Glass House" by Kate Judge  off her EP titled "Paradise".

Here's the things we discuss in this podcast:

  • Working with non-percussion clients
  • What it's like to do show/theatrical performances
  • Having the right attitude and approach to gigs
  • When to say no,
  • Finding your own path
  • Being diverse in they styles of music
  • How he practices when he travels
  • Self-growth and care
  • What the heck is a zen drum?
