Think we're currently in the Golden Age of the superhero film? Wrong. This week Desmond and Darryll take a look at the lineage of the French superhero / antihero film. First up: one of the greatest comic films ever made: Mario Bava's 1968 psychedelic Danger: Diabolik. Then Desmond does a What Music They Make segment looking at Ennio Morricone's score for that film before Darryll returns to go over the first two films covering the silent exploits of the French pulp anarchist, Fantomas: 1913's Fantomas in the Shadow of the Guillotine, and Juve vs. Fantomas. It's a show loaded with debonair antiheroes and their lovely ladies. Enjoy! Diabolikal tunes abound: "Deep Down" by Mondo Cane, "Body Movin'" by The Beastie Boys, "Underwater Wah Wah" and other selected music from Ennio Morricone, "Experiment in Terror" by Fantomas, and "Something Diabolical" by The Bloodhound Gang.
