Warning: The podcast you are about to listen to contains scenes of a sexual nature, extreme violence, Satanism, and Tom Hanks crying in a phone booth. This week, we take a look at bad influences in media. Films, video games, comic books, and rock music have all been blamed for society's ills. On this episode we're examining some of those. Desmond and Darryll team-up on a film that explores the bad influence a sinister song can have on the women of the world: The Lords of Salem. In a brand new Stay Scary, Devil Dinosaur Jr. reviews the animated adaptation of a comic book that was partially blamed for the Aurora theatre shooting, and is often blamed for the darkness of comics in the 1980s and 90s: The Dark Knight Returns. Then, in a wild condemnation of role-playing games, Tom Hanks, in his first starring role, overacts his way to Damien and Desmond's hearts as they review Mazes and Monsters. The songs this week run from those inspired by the subject to soundtrack items, protest songs, and even those deemed obscene to the PMRC: "The Lords Theme" by John 5 and Griffin Boice, "Crushing the Ritual" by Leviathan the Fleeing Serpent (AKA Rob Zombie and John 5), "The Darkest One" by The Tragically Hip, "Startin' Up a Posse" by Anthrax, and "Into the Coven" by Mercyful Fate.
