88: Anselm's Ontological Argument for the Existence of God - a podcast by Eric Roark

Today's episode takes a look at St. Anselm's ontological argument to prove the existence of God.  Anselm makes the case that the existence of God can be established in a purely rational way without appealing to divine revelation or any empirical features of the world.  For Anselm our ability to imagine a being of which none greater can be imagined is enough to establish the existence of God.  His argument is often disputed and most philosophers and others think that it goes wrong somewhere but yet its simplicity and eloquence has vexed thinkers for a millennia who disagree with the argument to show how it goes wrong.
