El Sótano - Downliners Sect; ¿la banda más punk del R&B británico? - 07/03/22 - a podcast by Radio 3

De la andanada de bandas de rhythm n’ blues que surgieron en Inglaterra a la estela de los Rolling Stones, la Secta de los Downliners fue la más visceral de todas, tanto por su sonido crudo como por su actitud gamberra y desentendida de lo que se pensasen de ellos. La primera etapa de su trayectoria discográfica duró menos de tres años, tiempo en que editaron tresálbumes -incluído un disco pionero en el country rock- y una buena montaña de singles. Ninguno de ellos llegó a rozar las listas deéxitos en su país -aunque sí que triunfaron en Suecia-, pero todos ellos sirvieron para erigirse como el grupo más punk de la escena británica de los años 60, auténticos referentes para los adoradores del garage salvaje y sin concesiones. En memoria del fallecido líder de la Secta, el cantante y guitarrista Don Craine, fallecido el pasado 24 de febrero, dedicamos nuestro tiempo de radio a la primera etapa de los Downliners Sect.
