Katie Barclay is a DECRA Fellow in the ARC Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions, based at The University of Adelaide. Her current project focuses on intimate relationships amongst the Scottish lower orders between 1660 and 1830. This paper, 'The Caring Touch of lower Order Masculinity: A Case Study of Late Eighteenth- and Nineteenth-Century Scotland', was presented at a conference on the theme of 'Gender Worlds, 500-1800: New Perspectives', at The University of Western Australia on 8 October 2016.
