Retired United States Air Force Captain Joni Marquez served two combat tours in Afghanistan. On August 6th, 2011 while the fire control officer on an AC-130 gunship, she and her crew witnessed the shootdown of a Chinook Helicopter call sign “Extortion 17” by Afghan insurgents. 31 Americans died in the incident.
Joni now serves as secretary on the Board of Directors for the Pipe Hitter Foundation, an organization committed to defending the rights and freedoms of men and women in uniform.
This show is dedicated to those heroes killed in the Extortion 17 incident.
