Episode 57: Kim and Mario Cangemi (Upstate Records) - a podcast by Enterprise Hardcore Podcast

Episode 57 features my conversation with Mario and Kim Cangemi from Upstate Records. When I first started getting ready to do this podcast in March of 2020, I noticed that Upstate was a pretty good up and coming label out of Albany. Formed in 2017, the label has new or upcoming releases from bands like Brick By Brick, Bushido Code, Gloves Off, Smash Your Enemies, and tons of other bands. We talk about the influences behind starting the label, running a record label during a pandemic, as well as the growth and learning experiences they have had during this time. It was also interesting for me to hear about running a record label during the digital/streaming era that we are currently in. We talked about Albany Hardcore and Troycore briefly during our conversation. I'm sure I could come up with an entire episode of questions about that scene. It's really an inspiration to me to see a husband and wife running a record label like this and I'm excited to see where they go from here. Upstate Records has a bunch of good releases on deck so I will more than likely be playing more of their artists on my next New Music episode.
