Morning:Isaiah 55:8–11; Romans 11:32–33; 2 Peter 3:8–9

But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares theLord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth… so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”

For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all. Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

Isaiah 55:8–11(Listen)

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10   “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
11   so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

Evening:Isaiah 33:14; Amos 4:11; Zechariah 4:6; Romans 6:23; 2Corinthians 1:9–10; 2 Corinthians 5:11; 1 Timothy 2:4; 2 Timothy 4:2; Hebrews 10:31; Jude 23

“You were as a brand plucked out of the burning.”

The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling has seized the godless: “Who among us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings?”—Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again.—For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.—Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others.

Be ready in season and out of season.—Save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear.

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says theLordof hosts.”—Who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
