But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness.

Who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings?”—Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again.—For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.—Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others.

Be ready in season and out of season.—Save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear.
