Morning:Psalm 4:6; Psalm 30:5–10; Psalm 59:16; Isaiah 54:7–8; Jeremiah 17:17; John 16:20

You are my refuge in the day of disaster.

There are many who say, “Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, OLord!”—But I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress.

As for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.” You hid your face; I was dismayed. To you, OLord, I cry, and to the Lord I plead for mercy: “What profit is there in my death, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it tell of your faithfulness? Hear, OLord, and be merciful to me! OLord, be my helper!”

“For a brief moment I deserted you, but with great compassion I will gather you. In overflowing anger for a moment I hid my face from you, but with everlasting love I will have compassion on you,” says theLord, your Redeemer.—“Your sorrow will turn into joy.”—Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

Psalm 4:6(Listen)

  There are many who say, “Who will show us some good?

Psalm 30:5–10(Listen)

  For his anger is but for a moment,
    and his favor is for a lifetime.1
  Weeping may tarry for the night,
    but joy comes with the morning.
  As for me, I said in my prosperity,
    “I shall never be moved.”
  By your favor, O LORD,
    you made my mountain stand strong;
  you hid your face;
    I was dismayed.
  To you, O LORD, I cry,
    and to the Lord I plead for mercy:
  “What profit is there in my death,2
    if I go down to the pit?3
  Will the dust praise you?
    Will it tell of your faithfulness?
10   Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me!
    O LORD, be my helper!”

Evening:Genesis 5:3; Job 14:4; Psalm 51:5; Romans 5:12; Romans 5:15; Romans 5:19; Romans 7:14–15; Romans 7:18; Romans 8:2; 1 Corinthians 15:57; Ephesians 2:1; Ephesians 2:3

Adam… fathered a son in his own likeness.

“Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean?”—Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

And you were dead in the trespasses and sins… and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.—I am of the flesh, sold under sin. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate…. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh.

Sin came into the world through one man… by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners.—If many died through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.

For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Genesis 5:3(Listen)
