Morning:

Ezekiel 18:31; Romans 13:11–12; 1 Corinthians 15:34; Ephesians 6:13; 1 Thessalonians 5:5–6; James 1:21; 1 John 2:28–29

Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning.

For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober.

Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.—Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.—Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit!—Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.—And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming. If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him.

Evening:

1 Samuel 3:10; Psalm 85:8; Song of Solomon 5:2; Song of Solomon 5:6; Luke 19:5–6; John 10:27; Revelation 3:20

“My sheep hear my voice.”

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”—I slept, but my heart was awake. A sound! My beloved is knocking. “Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my perfect one.”… I opened to my beloved, but my beloved had turned and gone. My soul failed me when he spoke. I sought him, but found him not; I called him, but he gave no answer.

“Speak, for your servant hears.”—And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.” So he hurried and came down and received him joyfully.—Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints; but let them not turn back to folly.
