Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.—But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.—Oh that you would rend the heavens and come down…. From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides you, who acts for those who wait for him.
