VW ID. BUZZ ELECTRIC VAN'S U.S. ON-SALE DATE CONFIRMED
"The 2024 Volkswagen I.D.Buzz will make it to the U.S. market during calendar 2023 after a 2022 launch in Europe, according to Carsten Intra, head of the brand's Commercial Vehicles Division. The much-anticipated electric descendant of the Microbus will make up to 300 horsepower, and U.S. buyers can only get it with a long wheelbase." says Car & Driver: "The Buzz will not be available as a work vehicle on the U.S. market but will be outfitted as an upscale people carrier. But there could be up to three battery sizes. The entry-level model will likely be a rear-wheel-drive version with around 200 horsepower, and there will be an all-wheel-drive top-level version that will make as much as 300 horsepower."

TAYCAN JOINS PORSCHE DRIVE SUBSCRIPTION
The Taycan, the first purely electric sports car from Porsche, today joins the Porsche Drive Subscription and Rental program – allowing it to be experienced for a day, a week, or a month, with a maximum of flexibility. Porsche Drive offers up to seven models for as short as a month-by-month subscription or a few hours rental, all at the tap of an app.
Porsche Drive is also expanding its territory, adding five new cities to four existing markets. In total, drivers can enjoy the program in nine metro areas: Atlanta, GA; Houston, TX; Phoenix, AZ; and in Califo
Initially, the Taycan 4S model is available under the Single-Vehicle Subscription or rental plan, not as a swap in the multi-vehicle program. Subscription fees for the Taycan compare to a lease at the same ratio as other models in Porsche Drive – about 20 percent above the monthly cost of a comparable two-year lease, representing the premium for the flexible and all-inclusive package. The Taycan 4S fee is $3,250 per month and the Taycan rear-wheel drive will be $2,500 monthly.
SCOTLAND’S RENEWABLE ENERGY MATCHED 97 PERCENT OF DEMAND IN 2020

"Back in 2011, Scotland set a green-energy related goal for itself: It aimed to generate the equivalent of 100 percent of the country's gross electricity demand from renewables by 2020. While the country failed to reach that objective, 97.4 percent of its gross electric consumption still came from clean energy sources last year." says engadget: "Scottish authorities are hoping that renewable energy sources can meet 50 percent of the country's energy demands across electricity, heat and transport by 2030. The country has a lot of work to do to be able to reach that goal, however, especially when it comes to transportation and heating."

TESLA GETS READY TO ADD NEW MODEL Y VERSION
"Tesla could be readying to add a Long Range Model Y with rear-wheel-drive (LR RWD) to its electric offerings following the publication of orders by the California air board, bucking news that it had cancelled plans for the variant." according to TheDriven: "The new document brings another chapter to the Model Y saga in which Tesla boss Elon Musk indicated a LR RWD would be added to the line-up after saying the Standard Range (not Plus) Model Y’s range would be too short to be a viable product.The California Air Resources Board published executive orders for the Long Range rear-wheel-drive version of the Model Y electric crossover on Thursday (US time), signaling that it could be available for sale within months if the company follows previous timelines for other models."
TESLA MODEL 3 VS VW ID.4 ROAD TRIP: RANGE, CHARGING, RACING
"The Volkswagen ID.4 has really impressed many EV fans. It makes the most sense to compare the ID.4 to the Model Y rather than the Model 3. However, for practical purposes, using the Tesla sedan" says InsideEVs.

VOLKSWAGEN DELIVERS FIRST ID.4 SUVS IN GERMANY
The first customers in Germany received on Friday their fully electric Volkswagen ID.4 SUVs.
The ID.4 EVs were handed over simultaneously in the delivery centers at the Transparent Factory in Dresden and the Autostadt in Wolfsburg.
Thousands of other customers are due to follow, with the company expecting to deliver about 150,000 ID.4 vehicles globally this year.
Despite the fact that many car dealers were closed and ahead of the actual market launch in Germany, 23,500 orders for this model had already been issued by the end of February across Europe.
For the dealerships to be able to advise customers in the best possible way, a Europe-wide training roadshow is under way. In Germany alone, more than 10,000 dealership employees are taking part. As well as learning about the vehicle itself, they also receive training in all related areas of electromobility such as We Connect and charging
ELECTRIFY AMERICA TO POWER NEW JEEP 4XE CHARGING NETWORK
Jeep is partnering with Electrify America to create the Jeep 4xe Charging Network by installing Jeep-branded EV charging stations at or near the trailheads of Jeep Badge of Honor off-road trails over the next year, allowing owners to take full-advantage of their electrified Jeep SUV.
Jeep 4xe charging stations are set to open this spring in Moab, Utah, the Rubicon Trail in Pollock Pines, California, and Big Bear, California, three of the most iconic off-road destinations and Jeep brand icons.
By the end of 2021, more Jeep 4xe Charging Stations are expected to be operational around the United States. The EV charging stations will be located near the Jeep Badge of Honor trails, an industry-exclusive off-road rewards program, to assist Jeep Wrangler 4xe owners who want to win a Badge of Honor.
NIO COMPLETES 2,000,000 BATTERY SWAPS
"On 24 March 2021, China-based electric vehicle maker NIO completed its 2,000,000th NIO Power Swap in Suzhou Delivery Center, China. On 26 May 2020—slightly less than 10 months ago—NIO had completed 500,000 swaps. (Earlier post.) NIO Power Swap stations have so far powered more than 396 million kilometers of driving distance." says Green Car Congress: "The most frequent Power Swap user has completed more than 654 swaps; the most traveled Power Swap user has visited 67 stations nationwide. Harbin, Beijing, Chengdu, Haikou, and Shenzhen are the top five cities in China with the highest per capita swaps. As an integral part of NIO’s Battery as a Service (BaaS) solution with chargeable, swappable, and upgradable batteries, apart from serving as the time-efficient solution for users’ daily needs, Power Swap also allows users to upgrade the battery and continuously enjoy the progress of battery technology."
