What’s up everyone? This week we have the pleasure of welcoming our good friend Travis Lee on to the podcast.

Travis has been a strong leader in the parkour community for many years now and has just recently opened a new facility, Outrun Parkour, out in Fort Collins, CO.

He and I met at the second ever Return to the Source retreat that I hosted here in Seattle and I really enjoyed having him there because we share so many similar ideas and viewpoints about movement practice, philosophy, meaning and coaching.

He has a strong background not only in parkour, but in martial arts, specifically Chinese martial arts which he fell in love with after taking a deep interest in Taoism and the Chinese language. This offers a really interesting foundation for our dialogue to address some of the concepts of meaning that we’ve been following from not only a more eastern perspective, but a more movement based perspective, that I think you will get a lot out of.

We’ll go deeply into the differing aspects of “Do” and “Jitsu” and the importance of understanding, and being honest about what your practice affords you and how to get more value out of the time you devote to self cultivation.

I really enjoyed this chat, and I hope to have Travis back on the show sometime in the near future.

I will say you should especially watch this episode if you’re on the fence about joining us for one of our retreats because Travis really does a great job of getting to the heart of why the experience is so powerful and important for people of all skill levels.
