Elder Eric Johnson presented the final message of the "Do Justly - Micah 6:8" series, entitled "Be the New Man!" Eric's presentation was a detailed allegory depicting Christ's "growing" his children into the people He wants them to be, demonstrating the Master's technique by comparing then to the techniques a farmer uses to grow fruitful crops. In particular, Eric showed the ultimate importance of pruning in producing crops that are fruitful, drawing the comparison of the extreme importance Christ places on "pruning" His people in order to make them fruitful for His Kingdom. Farmers prune their crops to give them long term abundance and balance, which establishes the connection the branches have to the vine, allowing them to produce fruit. Just as a branch left unpruned will develop into an unfruitful vine, a Christian left without God's pruning would begin to think that he is the "Vine" instead of Christ, and will become unfruitful for the Kingdom. John 15:5 (ESV) says, "I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." Amen to that!
