Mercy: Give It To Receive It - a podcast by Band of Brothers

Pastor Erik Jarvis concluded our current series on mercy by presenting, "Mercy: Give It To Receive It." To start the message, Erik defined mercy as having compassion when you have the power to punish or provide harm. For the most part, Erik used text from the Sermon on the Mount from Matthew 5:1-12, during which Jesus gave the basics of Christianity. Jesus, by His Word, indicates that He cares more about character than conduct; conduct flowing from character. Romans 12:1 says we are to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice; yet what are we willing to sacrifice to show mercy. When it comes to our own character, do we default to mercy or justice? Jesus wants us to give mercy as He extends it to us. For that we will be rewarded, if not here on earth, for sure in Heaven.
