This video explains the very basics of contest types, building a roster and getting starting playing PGA DFS on DraftKings Hi – We like playing Fantasy Golf. It is fun! We don’t play for a lot of money, maybe $20 max a week. We don’t pay for picks or services. We watch golf and rely on our gut to make picks. We play on DraftKings. In this video Chad will explain the basic basics for playing Daily Fantasy Golf. First SUPER basic stuff: Create an account on DK Deposit Money Once you do that you want to find “contests” to join and play… This in itself can be confusing. Contest selection is an important factor in playing DFS and having “fun”… My advice to beginners, first time players, brand new to the DFS world: Practice with “free” contests. On the DraftKings home page… You are officially entering the DK casino floor. Navigate to the sport you want to play, in this case: Golf Within “golf” there are a lot of options for contests… Multi-entry contests: allow users to submit more than 1 lineup. Single-entry contests: users are only allowed to submit 1 lineup. GPP: Gauranteed Price Pool contests pay out large 1st place prizes. These contests are created by DraftKings and will run/pay out even if they don’t fill (spoiler: they always fill). GPP contests are usually the most fun. You can play for a huge prize! These contests are filled with the best DFS players. GPP’s usually require a player to embrace more risk. These can be very frustrating as a successful DFS player might only win 1 of these contests per YEAR! Or NEVER! GPP contests are fun, but don’t expect to win. It takes a LOT of luck; especially when there are 100,000s of players/lineups you have to compete against. The other alternative is what is referred to as “Cash” contests. Cash contests mean that roughly 50% of the entries into that contest are paid out the same amount. There are clearly different strategies for each; which again is what makes DFS fun – there are multiple ways to play, and different strategies to winning. Cash contest lineups might be more conservative because you do not need to finish 1st or in the Top 10 for a big payout; that doesn’t matter. All you need from your cash lineup is to beat 50% of the lineups in that contest and you “cash”. Cash game contests can be referred to as Double Ups or 50/50s. There are many articles and videos about the strategy between each of these contest types. Playing “cash” games can be a great way to get started as a beginner since you don’t have to have the “perfect” lineup to make money. So, you’ve signed up, deposited, looked at the lobby, found golf, found the contest type that you feel comfortable with… now what? Let’s build a Golf lineup! Open up the contest to edit the lineup. Golf is pretty simple when it comes to DFS… there aren’t different positions, like in other sports. Everyone in golf is a G for Golfer. Prior to DK making these contests, they assign each golfer a salary… The salary is specific to this event. It is usually tied to the Vegas Odds and tweaked by course history, recent form and other factors that help DK determine a price. Pricing dictates which golfers you can combined together to include in your roster. You are allotted $50,000 to fill 6 roster spots. The better golfers have higher prices, and therefore you cannot include all of them in your lineup. This is where you have to rely on your own research or opinion to figure out where DK mis-priced or which players you think are better values for their price. Each week, for every new event, there are new odds and new pricing is assigned and new values emerge. Fill your roster, fitting all 6 golfers together under the $50k budget and click enter. You are officially gambling and ready to win #megaprofit! There are SOO many ways to play DFS. Try experimenting with different types of contests. After a while you will figure out how you like to lose your money best. Comment any questions and we will gladly get back to you. Watch our weekly Fantasy Golf Pod for PGA DFS advice!
