Lia Raz has reinvigorated my spirit! She brings to light the concept of eco-anxiety, its commonality and Her reminders about caring for ourselves through caring for the earth, serve as an affirmation and measure of accountability for some of my goals in 2019! As an Ayurvedic Health Counselor and current Horticulture student, Lia reminds us all of the connection between the nature within us and the nature all around us. We are the microcosm within the macrocosm. What we do impacts us all. After this interview, securing a composting system is at the top of my list for 2019!

  • How gratitude can be the first step toward positive change

Favorite Quotes:

“Hope is great, hope is important, but it also needs to be active.” — Lia Raz

“Everything comes back to compassion. The greatest teacher we can have in compassion…is our relationship with ourselves.”

“To have that compassion for ourselves, to be kind to ourselves and forgive ourselves, that’s everything. That’s step one before we can really go out in the world and show compassion and care for others, for the planet. And not come at it from this kind of conflict.”— Lia Raz

“I get kind of angry when I’m sick, and it’s not my body being upset with me, it’s loving me and showing me where I need to work.” — Lia Raz

“What do we have to work with when we just feed ourselves processed food?” —Andrea Catherine

“When we create that gratitude for what goes into our bodies and what heals us, we also create a connection to the planet.” — Lia Raz

“All uncomfortable moments are gifts. They’re opportunities to practice and to learn. It’s just very hard to remember that when you’re in it.” — Lia Raz

“Food scraps in landfill are just as bad as anything else. They’re not breaking down the way they would in a compost.” —Lia Raz

“Be conscious of what you consume, and if you need it. Such a huge part of how we got to where we are is consuming things we don’t need.” —Lia Raz

“We are whole, we are beautiful we are perfect, and we don’t need things to make us any better. We’re perfect as we are.” — Lia Raz
