Way before the British colonized India and brought with them homophobia, racism and transphobia, lots of Indian people practiced the art of the Kama Sutra, an ancient guide that celebrates the art of living well, the nature of love and how to get your freak on.

In recent years, India has fought for and won marriage equality and while being gay is more accepted these days, the art of drag is still a bit of mystery to Indians and folks especially don’t quite know what to make of a bearded beauty.

Our guest today is South Asian bearded drag queen Kamani Sutra who was inspired to dress up in drag by her grandfather who used to dress up in women’s clothing to perform at festivals.
