Dr Philip Smith, Associate and Social Media Editor of Frontline Gastroenterology and Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Royal Liverpool Hospital, UK, interviews Dr Nick Thompson, who is a Consultant Gastroenterologist in the Department of Gastroenterology, Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Dr Thompson has helped develop Newcastle as a regional centre for parenteral nutrition support and the hospital was recently designated as one of the Integrated Intestinal Failure Centres in England. Dr Thompson is the senior author on the guidance document "British Intestinal Failure Alliance (BIFA) guidance - haematological and biochemical monitoring of adult patients receiving home parenteral nutrition".
