John Morgan's latest article up on Field Gulls focuses primarily on the issues with the offensive line and how they have impacted Russell Wilson's ability to throw the ball more. John joins podcast to go deeper into his thinking surrounding the Seahawks and Wilson's ability to pass more while still maintaining the identity of the team and philosophy of Pete Carroll. General Manager John Schneider has attempted to address issues on the offensive line this offseason by signing a high volume of lineman, though it's difficult to guarantee any improvement based on the acquisitions.
We discuss what would need to happen for improvement on the offensive line, as well as the way that more passes can be incorporated into the offense without entirely changing the offense and philosophy of the team. John points to a former AFC West rival quarterback as a model for what we may be able to expect from Russell Wilson as he will likely shift toward passing from the pocket more often in the years ahead.
While improvements within the offense could provide a team a boost, John points at an area where the team needs to see more of an impact to have success. Outside of D.K. Metcalf last season, Seattle has struggled to find rookies who have provided an immediate impact. But with this strange offseason, what can be a realistic expectation for what this year's rookies can provide. Tune in as we talk about all this and more!
