Marty Smith is the Head Coach at the College of Central Florida, a Junior college in Ocala, Florida.  He played his collegiate baseball career at the College of Central Florida and finished at Saint Thomas University a than Division II school in Miami, Florida.  Later, he began his coaching career, being a part of the Miami Dade College baseball program and then the Florida State College at Jacksonville program.  In 1991, he started his career at the College of Central Florida as an assistant coach, then in 1995 he took over as the Head Coach where he still remains. 


In this episode, we start off talking about his incredible 800 career wins at the College of Central Florida.  Coach Smith also explains the level of play in Junior College and the impact it can have on a young baseball player, as well as the coaching side of JUCO.  


We also talk about true player development at the Junior College level and what goes into getting players prepared for the next level.  Coach Smith believes one of the biggest parts of player development is the weight room, explaining the impact it can make on a player.  Additionally, we talk about controversial topics around Coach Smith’s way of coaching, and much more!
