☀️ It’s on the Internet-it must be true, right? How can you tell? Wisdom on Internet Integrity Chat #33. If it's on the Internet, it must be true, right? Not quite. These days, in particular, we see a lot of information shared freely, without a second thought about its authenticity, or giving credit to the originator/creator. Whether it is a quote from a writer or a news article, it is important to note the sources, and do some further research, if necessary, to exercise care and responsibility in what we put out there, for others to read and be influenced by .
In this episode of the Food For Thought Sunday™ of Fire Chat with Mirella podcast, I thought I'd explore a particular quote/graphic, which had been circulating on the Internet for quite some time. Upon reading it several times, I found that there was something off, in the style and rhythm of the sentences, and their witty appeal. In fact, although the entire quote is certainly appealing to our sensibilities, and whoever expanded upon the original sentence by Camus, did a nice job of offering an ode to hope and resilience, it is not written by Camus.  Once I did a little research on this particular quote, which is sometimes presented in a letter format, I found that there is only one sentence in the paragraph that is really from a work by Albert Camus, the late French philosopher, writer, author, journalist and Noble Prize winner. I also found out what work it came from, and what sparked him to write it, in the first place. I urge you to listen to find out more. Here are some links I promised to share.
