Rising through the ranks (guest: Sean Koerner) - a podcast by The Football Girl

Joining host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) this week is the reigning champ of the FantasyPros draft accuracy competition, Sean Koerner, the director of predictive analytics at The Action Network (@The_Oddsmaker).

There’s a big group of veteran running backs who fall into the RB2 range this year, including Todd Gurley, Leonard Fournette and Chris Carson. Sean calls it “the frozen pond tier,” and he and Pat discuss which players from that tier seem safe and which could put you on thin ice. Sean and Pat also discuss a group of exciting young WR2s that includes A.J. Brown, D.K. Metcalf and Courtland Sutton. Is AJB due to regress, and if so, to where? Is Metcalf a blue-chip stock? Should Sutton be downgraded because of his situation? Sean and Pat both weigh in.

Sean’s dad, Ken, began playing fantasy football in 1985 and used to watch Raiders practices during his lunch hour. Sean talks about how his dad cultivated his passion for sports and explains why his dad once tried to throw him out of their long-running fantasy league. There’s plenty of rankings talk during the second half of the show, with closer looks at Josh Allen, Cam Newton, Aaron Rodgers, Jonathan Taylor, Allen Robinson, T.Y. Hilton and more. Sean also shares his 2020 TE strategy and lists a few of his favorite later-round RB dart throws.
