Do you sometimes feel as though you are swimming against the current? You're trying to make it to the shore, but the current is too strong and keeps pushing you back or is otherwise preventing you from reaching your goal.
What I'm talking about today is when we get excited about getting out of debt, but our spouse does not see eye-to-eye. Not every married couple goes through this, but for those of you who are struggling with this right now, you'll want to listen to the tips that I discuss to hopefully bring your spouse on board so that you go into this as a united front - together.
There is always the potential for reconciliation if you are having money fights or other fights with your spouse. Do you know other married couples who are also on their journey to get out of debt? If so, there is strength in numbers, and you may want to invite them over for snacks, drinks, and to discuss getting out of debt. Your spouse may see that you aren't the only one who wants to get out of debt, and he or she may be more willing to join you - especially once a larger support system is established with other married couples.
Don't give up on your spouse. They will come around someday. Don't put them down or make them feel that they're in the wrong. People simply need to come to their own decision to get out of debt, and it's time for you to practice perseverance and patience while you wait.
