When we are working towards accomplishing a huge goal like getting out of debt, it can be quite easy for us to convince ourselves that we need to be in a state of suffering while we work on this goal. We somehow end up telling ourselves that we should be generally unhappy while we are working on this goal. Why do we do this?

Well, for one thing, our environment usually dictates the level of stress that we have in our lives. If we're working a full-time job and a part-time job, we may be putting in too many hours. We may not be seeing loved ones as much as we want to, and it may lead to stress. We may feel stressed because we can't seem to make ends meet. Whatever the reasons may be, the stress will almost always bring on unhappiness and the feeling that we're suffering throughout this process of trying to reach our goal of debt freedom.

It doesn't have to be this way. While it sounds more simple than it is, we do need to make the decision to be happy. How do we do this? The first step is to center ourselves each and every day, right at the start of the day. For me, that means morning prayer and meditation. For you, that might be something different. Perhaps yoga or light exercise. Maybe it will be a combination of all of the above. However you want to do this, the important thing is that you do something that will ground you and center you so you're starting your day at that point.

You don't want to wake up in the morning and immediately think of or begin to work on all of your problems and tasks at hand right away. We need to take some quiet time in the morning to ground and center ourselves in the best way that we know how in order to help us to be truly ready for the day. Starting from this point will greatly reduce the stress that we feel in our lives each and every day. This will naturally lead us to more happiness, and it will allow you to experience this happiness well before you reach the point of freedom once you have completed the goal of getting out of debt.
