Gameplay This Week

This Week Charles & Klotz return to the show along with Kurtstable (who never left).  Shield and Mercenary events are underway and the consensus is, there will be no Iron Man this week.  Charles says that the team Kurt recommended (Hawkeye, Yondu, Night Nurse, Drax, and Quake) has been "Wrecking Face". Klotz pulls out his "I told you so" stick and smacks Charles with it repeatedly.  Kurt points out that the only way he could convince Charles to make that change was to catch him while he's liquored up..

Discussion

Klotz says he's losing some enthusiasm and "feeling a lot of fatigue" in the game. But, he thinks it may be because of a combo of frustration with having to play on desktop and frustration with bad "Drop Rates" in the game.  It takes a player too long and too much time to farm nodes and earn shards for characters.  He speculates drop rates are an average of 20%. We talk about grinding in the game and comparing to other games like Avengers Alliance and Future Fight.  Charles has been farming Korath and got 4-8 shards. Then refreshed twice for 20 more shards. But, hasn't found a single Bullseye shard in days. Drop rates are weird. Klotz points out that if it were easier to raise up more characters there could be more diversity in the teams' combos you can use. Right now, in order to progress, you often find yourself using the same teams in the different areas of the game. Kurt says he often uses Blitz to try out new team combos. Klotz agrees but says that Blitz doesn't give you an accurate look at a character's potential.  Charles says he agrees and getting characters to Max out is hard.  Maybe harder than it should be.  Kurt brings up "The Gold Controversy" (newer players get more Gold than beta players)  We talk about the difference between Beta Players, Global Launch Players, and New Players. Is each category of a player playing different versions of the game? If so, is it a necessary part of gameplay? And, is there a fix for that?

Should you get into the new Marvel Insider initiative? Kurtstable tries it out and isn't impressed. It's a lot of work for a small result.

Tips

Stay away from Rocket if he's surrounded by a purple ring. He'll take out your whole team singlehandedly!
